As a member of the Small Schools Sports Association Wincle School takes an active part in many sporting activities including fotball, netball, cricket, tag rugby, athletics and swimming. The children enjoy any opportunity offered to them to compete against other schools and places on the netball and football teams are much sought after. Information about games recently played is usually to be found in the fortnightly newsletters, often written by the children themselves.

  Football

The football team is trained by one of our parents, Mr Dean, and they have shown considerable improvement since he took over. We usually field a mixed boys/girls team and always play away from home (because we don't have a flat field), but we are very well supported by very vocal parents! In recent league games the children have acquitted themselves very well, drawing, winning or narrowly losing their games. Members of the local community recently provided funding for a new football strip in the blue and yellow Wincle colours.

  Netball

Mrs Coombes, another of our parents, is a qualified netball coach and she regularly takes the children for netball training. Whilst the team have not as yet had many opportunities to play against other schools they are very keen to do so. Again, they have benefited enormously from Mrs Coombes' training and their skills are much improved. At present we are very good at getting the ball to our shooters, but less good at getting it in the net!
